Domestic Violence Act U.P. Campaign 2007

A huge campaign for the implementation of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (DV Act) 2005 will take place in Uttar Pradesh, from 25 November- International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women to 10 December- International Human Rights Day, and will be carried out in 41 districts of the state.

The main objectives of the campaign are:

-to create awareness about DV Act 2005 at a larger level
-to make the government accountable for implementing this Law
-to create awareness and dialogue about DV Act 2005 at the district level

6 December
Campaign partners continued to distribute materials raise people’s awareness about the DV Act.

5 December
A Road Show was held, material was distributed and stickers and posters were placed on the walls.

4 December
A Signature Campaign continues to gain support for the Act.

2 December
Campaign participants took part in a wall writing activity to raise people’s awareness about domestic violence and DV Act 2005.

1 December
A Press Conference was organized in Muzzafarnagar which was attended by most of the local media.

29 November
The poster of the Campaign was launched by the SSP of the area.

27 November
A district-level dialogue was held and was attended by many youth, as well as the probation officer.
